These first few designs are relatively old, so there are parts that look kinda scuffed (i don't really like how i drew her socks or the way the hand holding the firework is positioned) though, more notably, my old watermark is on this image!! See, i first made my carrd back when i was still relatively new to the a hat in time fandom and hat kid was a HUGE comfort character for me so i named my carrd after her. I have since changed it though, which is why i'm pointing it out.

Name: selene (she/her)

Yes, i am aware that her design is kinda silly, what with her nether star-shaped hair. But in my defense: i was only really beginning to get the hang of character design at the time. Also, this is one of the few that are redesigns/reworks of previous gijinkas, and in her old design she was just a regular ass white girl with nether stars in her hair so i mean...this is at LEAST better than that.

Name: spora (she/her)

While i was designing this lil cutie, i wanted her hair to be the focal point of her design so i didn't want to make her outfit too detailed. Though, i kinda wish i added a little more; maybe a fanny pack or one of those jackets made of see-through fabric, because she looks a little TOO plain.

Name: endexander (he/him)

This character is a bit special, while the other characters i've redesigned were essentially made into completely different characters, this is actually still the same character!! See, the old design was a girl, and i thought "since all of my old designs were female, what if i made one of them transmasc?" And thus, i did just that with endexander here!! The buttons on his pants are even the trans pride colors as a nod to that!!

Name: christian (he/him)

While the previous character was an old design i transed the gender of, this one is actually my old design's twin brother!!

That being said though: i feel like this design aged the worst out of this whole batch, i didn't know what to do design-wise with a character who's supposed to be an elite hacker so i made him a stereotypical redditor/neckbeard type; i even named him "christian" after chris chan. Nowadays, i think the reddit user/neckbeard meme is EXTREMELY fatphobic and i've come to hate lolcow culture with a burning passion (like seriously, christine would've been a WHOLE lot better if people didn't spend LITERAL DECADES constantly harrassing her and exploiting her mental conditions for laughs...AND THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO USED TO CALL HERSELF A "CHRISTORIAN!!!")

Name: bartholomew (he/him)

I actually made a phantom gijinka LONG before i got the idea to start doing it as a series, i drew it for minecraft's anniversary at the time (don't remember which one, i think the 10th?) I unfortunately don't have the art for it anymore though but i remember it being a sort of high fantasy-esque girl design with bat wings (it kinda had the same vibes as the dark fairies from neopets) so like...if any of you are crazy enough to scroll through my old arts and OCs amino account for hours to see the design, you can go do that (my username was H0ppin_H00ligan)

Name: dirman (they/them)

I used to be TERRFIED of slenderman when i was a kid. I first learned about him through MLP crossover videos on youtube (of all things) and was so scared of him that sometimes when i looked out my bedroom window at night, i would be SO worried that i would've seen him in my neighbors' yard staring back at me!! Hell, i couldn't even say his name because i was so scared of him!! That said, when i found out endermen were a thing i was JUST AS scared of them and "voldemorted" their name as well.

Now imagine: you're a 50-something year old woman with 3 kids, you just recently bought them an xbox 360 alongside a few games you think they'd like; they seem to really like the gift and often play it together. A few days later, you come home from work and have a conversation with your youngest daughter, aged 9. She tells you completely seriously, in a very excited tone of voice, that your 14-year-old son has killed a "tall skinny black man" in a video game you RECENTLY bought for them.

This was a real thing that happened and i cannot even BEGIN to imagine what must've gone through my mom's mind when i said that.

Name: tetsuo (AKA experiment 119, AKA william) (he/him)

Now onto a mob that i'm afraid of AS AN ADULT!! :DDD When the warden was first added to the game, i was genuinely shocked; never in my life that did i think that minecraft would ever offically add straight up HORROR GAME ELEMENTS!! I mean...there are those creepy music discs and y'know...THE NETHER, but even then, they weren't as "in your face" as this (i'd harken it moreso to pokemon's lavender town) i've seen some compare the warden to the horror "john" mod from back in the day and honestly if you think about it, it actually kinda makes sense...ESPECIALLY when you look at some of the warden's prototype designs...

Name: rottanita (she/her)

Y'know, call me nihilistic, but in all honesty: i REALLY don't like cottagecore. I'm not a very judgemental person, but hearing ANYTHING be described as "cottagecore" makes me cringe. I'm tired of seeing people look at anything even SLIGHTLY woodsy and going "OH MY GOD SO COTTAGECORE YOU GUYS!!! I'M GETTING SO MUCH SEROTONIN RIGHT NOW OMGGGGGGG SOOOOOOOO COZY YOU GUYSSSSSS!!!!!!" It's so cheugy!!

That said, mooshrooms (and minecraft in general) is seen a lot in the more gamer-y side of cottagecore circles so i decided to make this character a cheeky lil parody of the aesthetic, with her being a stereotypical cottage-living girl who's infected with a zombie virus :3

Name: pyrite (they/them)

back when piglins were first added to the game: i, as well as a few others in the minecraft community, had noticed that if you look closely at a piglin's face front-on, it looks almost like an anime girl wearing a pig hat. While designing this character, i wanted to incorporate that into it somehow but didn't know how at first due to the fact that liking gold was a HUGE aspect to piglins and the hat would look weird in any aesthetic that'd fit a piglin. Until i remembered that alt kids were very popular at the time and people in that aesthetic often wear animal hats, chains and studded accessories.

That said, other inspirations for this character include porky minch from earthbound and hypebeast culture, with the red and cyan bracelets they're wearing representing the crimson and warped forest biomes.

Name: allan (he/him)

I actually voted for the allay during the mob vote back then (you could probably even say i'm part of the problem depending on weither you liked their addition or not) though personally i don't know if the game feature that the allay introduced is good or not since i don't really run into them in normal gameplay (i'm too scared to go near pillager outposts >m<)

Names: Queen jeanette and princess agatha (she/her for both)

I'm still pretty proud of jeanette's design even to this day. The braid mimicking the ender dragon's tail, the sleek dragon-y dress, the eye of ender embellishments, the scale-like ruffles on the skirt...some real signs that i was getting better at character design back then. I imagine jeanette's husband (and agatha's father) is the scrapped red dragon mob, hence why agatha has a warmer color palette compared to her mother.

Name: nunya bizniss (they/them)

Now onto a design i'm not ENTIRELY proud of!! It's a cute design, don't get me wrong but it doesn't really SCREAM "shulker" y'know? Fun fact: this is actually my first character with dwarfism!! Although part of me kinda worries that they're a bit stereotypical, since they kinda have a similar personality to one of snow white's dwarves (being grumpy) but then again, i don't know a lot of stereotypes regarding little people.

Name: ross (he/him)

Ngl i remember struggling to design this character, the original mob SCREAMS fantasy, but i typically want the characters in this series to have a (mostly) real-world modern vibe. After a bit of thinking, i ultimately decided on making him a "bad boy" type biker. Though admittedly, the biker helmet was mostly added because i didn't know what to do with his hair.

Name: meredith (she/her)

This is honestly my favorite character out of the whole batch, i just think she's so cool!!! Though admittedly, i feel like it was probably a missed opportunity to give her bantu knots to look like the spikes on a guardian (i mean to be fair: i don't think i knew that style existed at the time lol)

I chose the name "meredith" because it means "protector of the seas" and i felt like that'd be REALLY fitting for a character based on an aquatic minecraft mob called "the guardian"

Name: ash (they/them)

I'm very proud of this design; it's ethereal, beautiful and pulls off the ghostly vibe really well!! Some design inspirations include the singer jazmin bean and this doll by the artist catmeleon studios

That said: i've noticed that a lot of my nonbinary characters usually tend to lean more towards an androgynous look and obviously, you don't need to look androgynous to be nonbinary, so i decided to go for a more fem look. The kinda shit to make a transmedicalist shit themself :3 they ARE wearing a binder though.

Name: vacio (he/him)

in all honesty, this is probably the least memorable character i've made. His design is just so...simplistic, it's almost kinda boring. The most i can really say about this design is that i like the tights, they're supposed to be based on the particles that float around the endermite. Also, he's dirman's annoying younger cousin

Name: vick (she/her)

This design was created before the vex was redesigned, so it is based on the original vex design with the more stocky bodytype

Since vexes and allays are closely related in game, i decided to make vick and allan siblings :3 also, since the vex is always carrying around that sword, she's also a swordswoman!! And yes, i am aware that the handle of her sword doesn't really make a lot of sense...
